Invisible Hand Episode 4: Interview with William T. Still, Part 1

April 20, 2010

This week’s show includes part 1 of my recent interview with author and filmmaker William T. Still, creator of two documentary films about monetary policy, The Money Masters, and most recently, The Secret of Oz. Still advocates the replacement of Federal Reserve Notes with debt-free fiat currency issued by the Treasury, like the greenbacks circulated during the Civil War.

I also talk to Brian Albert about:

  • The explosion of the Ron Paul Revolution, underscored by the latest Rasmussen poll revealing that he would tie the election if he were run as the Republican nominee against the incumbent Obama.
  • The civil complaint filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission against Goldman Sachs, accusing them of defrauding investors. We also cover Barclays banking analyst Roger Freeman’s apologia on the matter.
  • The attempt by the 157-year-old Clearing House Association, a lobbying group for commercial banks, to save the Federal Reserve from being forced to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Bloomberg news that sought information on emergency loans that have been made to banks by the Fed.
  • The movement within the Oklahoma legislature to create a volunteer state militia to protect against “improper federal infringements on state sovereignty.”
  • The sheriff’s department in Ashtabula County, Ohio leaving residents to fend for themselves against criminal amid drastic budget cuts, while a judge there tells citizens to “arm themselves.”
